State Rep. Ryan Spain and I sponsored a free Senior Health and Information Fair, which ran from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
We talked briefly about recent legislation affecting seniors, including:
* legislation that prevents consumer reporting agencies from charging a fee to place, lift or remove a security freeze on a consumer’s credit report;
* legislation that would explore expanding broadband access throughout the state; and
* a measure that requires the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to consider the impact on consumers and anyone protected under the Illinois Human Rights Act when exploring check cashing fee rate changes.
About 100 people attended the Senior Health and Information Fair, and checked out exhibits about healthcare and wellness, state agencies, housing, and organizations that provide services to seniors.
We welcomed the opportunity to talk with so many people. We hope you enjoyed yourself and found the many exhibits and vendors to be helpful.
Thank you for taking a few hours out of your day to spend time with us!
